Claire leaves her house in the middle of the night and finds herself at a late night cafe with twenty-something clubbers and a couple of chess players. Is she looking for something or trying to leave something behind
Genre: Narrative Drama or Fiction
Short Duration: 18:23 minutes
I made this short film as an exercise for a longer project. The actors were key in the development of the script: the story was shaped as we workshopped the characters. I wrote the script based on those workshops. I am currently working on a feature film where the story (based in this instance on a detailed treatment) was similarly workshopped with actors before writing the script.
Vinette Robinson (Claire): Vinette is an accomplished theatre and television actor. She received great acclaim for her performance as Ophelia to Michael Sheen's Hamlet. She is a recurring character in the BBC's hugely successful 'Sherlock'.
Daniel Kaluuya (Stanley): Daniel is a rising talent in television (BAFTA winning 'The Fades', 'Black Mirror' and 'Skins') and film ('Kick-Ass 2' and 'Welcome to the Punch'). More recently he's had roles in highly regarded theatre productions ('Trelawny of the Wells' and 'Season of the Congo'). He is also a talented writer ('Skins').
