Rafael Villa Nova Aidar was born in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in May 2nd,1978.
As a teenager, he took part in a variety of drama courses for theatre and for television that comprises 4 years of acting lessons. Such experience is of great importance due to the fact that it gave him the opportunity to focus on an essential area for film production: directing actors.
He graduated in Cinema at Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP), in Sao Paulo, where he had the opportunity to develop different roles in different audio-visual productions. Simultaneously, he took up photography lessons in a variety of well-known schools. He was given the first prize in a very competitive photography contest in the communication department in the college where he was studying.
After graduation, he managed to combine video and photography in his work in independent projects for 2 years. In 2004, he joined the team of a video producer that deals with corporate material where he had the chance to take different roles: photography director, camera, editing assistant, director assistant and director.
In 2006, Rafael joined the team of Novacia Comunicacao and Marketing, an important communication agency in the city of Sao Paulo, where he developed his career as a scene director, scriptwriter, journalist and project manager.
It is worth mentioning that between 2008-2009, Rafael Aidar took a trip in four Latin American countries; this trip lasted for 16 months. He had the chance to photograph his journey and produced around 30 thousand images. Soaking up in new cultures, making a dream come true and exchanging experiences with different travellers were highly influential to his personal and professional life.
Back in Brazil in 2010, Rafael saved some time to write the script of THE PACKAGE.
Rafael Aidar currently works as a free-lancer (director and scriptwriter) in the film/video industry. Also, he's developing new personal projects, including new films and a photography book.
