Zephyrean Nightfall by Elise Pehrson

Brisk winter spirits
Kiss the dying trees.
The midnight moon
Licks the lake as morning dew.
Eyelids flutter to frivolous fantasies
Beyond this world
And the realms of
Awake.
The Zephyr in twiggy arms
Lift leafless branches
In quiet, calm dawn.
The black cat hisses a whisper
Like the breeze kissing life
To sleep.
Hasty hushes from mothers
To babes
Comfort the dreaming,
Singing softly, to
Whisk them away with
Words worth repeating.
