PREFERENTIAL OPERATION, 20min, Spain, Thrille/Drama
Directed by Roger Comella & Carles Velat
Four masked men kidnap the director of a bank branch in an unremarkable town. They put him in a van and ask him 90,000 euro from his own pocket.
"Operacion Preferente" (Preference Operation) is a short film we like to classify as "Social Thriller". That is, a story about a social reality with suspense, mystery and a touch of humor and action. We wish to reach the largest audience possible and be able to make them aware of this social conflict; preference shares.
The plot is inspired by a true story that happened in Germany a few years ago; three men kidnapped the director of a bank to make him return all their savings, which had been deposited in a fraudulent retirement plan. Based on this true story, we have created a fiction about the social drama caused by the preference shares in Spain.
"Operacion Preferente" takes place in an unremarkable town, pretty small, where everybody knows each other. A place where the "by word of mouth" and "I have something that may interest you" spread like the plague, no matter whether you are a stranger, a neighbour, the father of a friend or a relative: the temptation of money makes no distinction.
